Our government is deeply concerned about the mental health of Canadians, their families, and their communities. For anyone who is struggling, know that it’s okay to not feel okay, and that you are not alone.
Mental health is health, and our government has made mental health a priority.
We:
are supporting projects that promote mental health and prevent mental illness in populations disproportionately impacted by the COVID‑19 pandemic, including youth, Black, Indigenous, and racialized populations and front-line and essential workers;
are supporting veterans’ dealing with PTSD, depressive and anxiety disorders;
are developing national standards for mental health and substance use services, in collaboration with provinces and territories, health organizations, and key stakeholders;
provided virtual mental health supports for those struggling with substance use via the Wellness Together Canada portal and the PocketWell app;
bolstered the capacity of distress centres across the country; and
are helping the provinces expand access to community-based mental health and addiction services to improve Canadians’ access to mental health and substance use services.
We will continue to do whatever it takes to support the mental health of Canadians and ensure all people, no matter where they live, have access to the mental health and substance use supports and resources they need.
